VISION 2... For Your Life
God's Vision for You
This brings us to the fact that God has a vision for you! Visions are not meant to be reserved for the elite Christian or some great prophet. God intended for you to be a recipient of a Godly dream and Godly vision in your own life.
When Jesus sent the Holy Ghost, there came a great increase in dreams, visions and revelation that has been misinterpreted and replaced by the simple utterance of another language.
Some Christian denominations and religious fanatics have also taken visions and dreams to such an extreme that they have crossed into witchcraft and divination and are saying and doing things in the name of the Lord that God never intended and is not involved in.
The purpose for the Holy Ghost coming was not so a part of the Body of Christ could have something that no one else had.
In the past, there has been such an emphasis on being baptized in the Holy Ghost but utilizing this gift in the way God intended has become lost because of ignorance to the intention of God.
Once you speak in tongues, you must know that these utterances are not the end, but a means to an end.
Speaking in tongues is not the pinnacle of Christianity but a doorway into greater revelation from God so you are able to accomplish the purpose for which you have been born.
Love, character of God and obedience to God is still God's highest order for His people.
Speaking in tongues unlocks God's revelation and a greater level of God's power in our lives. This is done so we can love Him and each other better; this is done so we can utilize self control and display God's character around us; this is done so we can live our life in obedience to God.
Without these restraints we are in a sense like kids in a playground, having fun playing the games, but never using the experience we get there in real life.
Now, knowing there's a greater purpose for the gift of the holy Ghost, we can stretch ourselves and understand that there are prophetic anointing's and increased revelation we can tap into.
This means that although God wants you to speak in tongues He also wants to bring you to a place where there's increased dreams and vision so you can fully utilize the purpose for God giving you the Holy Ghost.
The Holy Ghost is the revealer of the plans and purposes of God. He gives the people of God insight and revelation into those purposes as well as the boldness and ability to carry them out.
In the Book of Acts chapter 2, there is the account of the fulfillment of a prophetic word that God released through the prophet Joel [2:28]. In doing so, you have the Lord increasing visions, dreams and revelation concerning His purposes in the earth.
The beginning of the fulfillment of these words was released on the generation that experienced the initial coming of the Holy Spirit.
This is after the 120 followers of Jesus Christ who were in the upper room was filled with the Holy Ghost and began speaking in various languages. These languages were unknown to them, but known to those who were in the crowd from all over the world.
The Amplified Bible reads:
12 And all were beside themselves with amazement and were puzzled and bewildered, saying one to another, What can this mean?
13 But others made a joke of it and derisively said, They are simply drunk and full of sweet [intoxicating] wine.
14 But Peter, standing with the eleven, raised his voice and addressed them: You Jews and all you residents of Jerusalem, let this be [explained] to you so that you will know and understand; listen closely to what I have to say.
15 For these men are not drunk, as you imagine, for it is [only] the third hour (about 9:00 a.m.) of the day;
16 But [instead] this is [the beginning of] what was spoken through the prophet Joel:
17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, God declares, that I will pour out of My Spirit upon all mankind, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy [telling forth the divine counsels] and your young men shall see visions (divinely granted appearances), and your old men shall dream [divinely suggested] dreams.
18 Yes, and on My menservants also and on My maidservants in those days I will pour out of My Spirit, and they shall prophesy [telling forth the divine counsels and predicting future events pertaining especially to God's kingdom].
19 And I will show wonders in the sky above and signs on the earth beneath, blood and fire and smoking vapor;
20 The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the obvious day of the Lord comes”that great and notable and conspicuous and renowned [day].
21 And it shall be that whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord [invoking, adoring, and worshiping the Lord”Christ] shall be saved. [Joel 2:28-32.]
I want to make a statement about the last verse here. All the gifts from God including speaking in tongues, prophecy, visions and dreams must have as the ultimate end result, someone being saved.
Like every other gift that God gives His people, none of them are ever meant to be used selfishly. So, what God gives He intends for us to use for the salvation of others.
In verse 17, you have dreams and visions mentioned of which God said He was going to release on certain people. Those specific people are, "all mankind, your Sons, daughters, young men, old men, men servants and maid servants.
The irony here is that although this was released over 2,000 years ago, not everyone has come to the revelation of what this means.
Some are told that only prophets can hear from God; others think that having a God-given vision or a God-given dream is only for a select few.
However, the fact is that increased visions, increased dreams and increased revelation from God will become a common reality in a generation of Believers before Christ returns for His Church.
However the reality is that every Christian will not flow in this because of three basic reasons.
If His Word always produces fruit, we must speak His Word
- If His Word is going to accomplish all that God wants it to and it will prosper in the purpose for God sending it¦
- ¦then you must bring your life, your prayers, tour thinking and your confession into agreement with God's Word¦ then go do your part so God can do His!
This is what He said in Ezekiel 12
For I am the Lord. I speak, and the word which I speak will come to pass; it will no more be postponed; for in your days, O rebellious house, I will say the word and perform it, says the Lord God.'
God said that a move of His Spirit was going to be unleashed in the last days and people will be saved in unprecedented numbers - and it shall be so!
He said the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the righteous - and it shall be so!
God said that He would have people who are prophetic in nature and are sensitive to Him constantly- and it shall be so!
- He said that He would save, heal and deliver His people - and it shall be so!
God is giving you a glimpse into what is coming on the earth and will accomplish His will in spite of those who refuse to believe it is so.
There is a part of the answer that can be overlooked if you do not see things from God's perspective.
We saw saw the dilemma of the prophet in Habakkuk chapter 1, but now we see another aspect of what God wants from us when it comes to fulfilled vision in Habakkuk chapter 2.
Here God continues sharing with the prophet the answer to the dilemma that he faces. Here is an important principle that must become a part of your life in order to see the fulfillment of your vision. It says in verse 1 the Amplified Translation:
OH, I know, I have been rash to talk out plainly this way to God!] I will [in my thinking] stand upon my post of observation and station myself on the tower or fortress, and will watch to see what He will say within me and what answer I will make [as His mouthpiece] to the perplexities of my complaint against Him.
2 And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and engrave it so plainly upon tablets that everyone who passes may [be able to] read [it easily and quickly] as he hastens by.
3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time and it hastens to the end [fulfillment]; it will not deceive or disappoint. Though it tarry, wait [earnestly] for it, because it will surely come; it will not be behindhand on its appointed day.
God said to write the vision down and make it plain. There are a couple of things here that can shed light upon what God is conveying.
Write it down and make it plain so those who read it in passing will be able to tell others about your vision. The word run as used is not literal running, but "that he who reads it may run through it, that is, read it at once without difficulty.
As verse three begins, "for this reveals the reason why it ought to be committed to writing: "because its fulfillment belongs to the future.
Although the vision is yet for an appointed futuristic time, the fact that God hath spoken it, should be enough to sustain your faith until it becomes a living reality.
Though the vision takes longer than you may desire (or tarry), wait for it. This is what faith is all about. There is an unswerving patience in the promise that God has made to His people.
Therefore you must learn to press forward in your vision knowing that "where you are is not where your vision is going to ultimately wind up.
This is why we wrote our vision down and committed it to God. We believe God gave this vision to us and if it is important enough for god to entrust the vision to us, it should be important enough for us to do our part in bringing it to pass.
*To prepare God's people for works of service and victorious living
*To spread the message of God's salvation through Jesus Christ, His Son
*To bring God glory by being living examples of Jesus and worshippers of the Father
The vision for this house is being captured on the written page. The vision has been shared over the years many times. At one point, it would be reiterated and refined in the beginning of the New Year.
However, except for the vision statement that encapsulates the entire vision (or what our ultimate objective is), the vision gets obscured and at times even lost as new people join our ranks and those who hear the message, forget and lose focus for the purpose of our existence as a ministry.
My objective this time around is to make this vision so plain that it will leave nothing to the imagination when someone reads it.
The one thing that is imbedded in my heart is the fact that:
The vision we have screams too loud for it to be a passing dream or some elusive vision that will never appear.
The vision for our lives and ministry has hung around too long without changing for it to not come to pass.
- The vision we have has been through too much hell for the enemy of God to prevail
We are not in ministry of our own accord, we have been called and appointed by God and therefore we stay focused on what God said and what God commanded.
I have a promise from my Father in Heaven that says in verse 3 of Habakkuk 2, that the vision is "yet for an appointed time.
The word appointed means, "It's a time that has been set by the Father, not you or me. The word appointed means that it's a time that has been "chosen; selected; agreed upon; fixed and pre-arranged.
The beauty is the fact that our times are in His hands and God knows what is best and the proper timing for the release of the vision that He gave you.
Never lose sight of the fact that every working moment and every day that passes is one more day closer to the fulfillment of the reality of your vision.
Jesus said it this way as He gave an analogy of how the Kingdom of God operates. Mark chapter 4
26 And He said, "The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground, 27 and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how. 28 For the earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head. 29 But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.
God really is working behind the scenes. We rise and we sleep; we rise and we sleep and just like the seed, our visions are coming to fruition even as we don't know how.
Your vision is yielding fruit all by itself as verse 28 here says, just like a stalk of wheat: first you see the blade, then the head and then the full grain in the head.
As the vision becomes clearer and you know that you know that you are in the harvest stage of your vision, you put in the sickle and reap the harvest that has come upon us.
If you don't get frustrated because of the challenges you will face, become discouraged as God works on your character, or give up because of the element of time you face, you will receive what He has promised you. God said that your vision would not deceive or disappoint you.
Verse 3 ends saying, "Though it tarry, wait [earnestly] for it, because it will surely come; it will not be behindhand on its appointed day.
Though your vision appears to take forever, wait earnestly for it. Expect the fulfillment of your vision while you wait - because it will surely come! It's not going to be delayed forever as the word "behindhand means that it won't be "late, behind, behind schedule, overdue or slow.
The dilemma we face is that we place everything on our timetable and forget that there is Someone much bigger and greater in charge and it's really not us! God's timetable is vastly different from ours and His timing is impeccable.
As I recently shared, the Kingdom of God is not governed by clocks and calendars, but "timings and seasons that are based on character development and maturity in the Saint of God.
The Lord is desirous of your making the best of every situation and growing in the things of God while you gain greater knowledge and wisdom which prepares you for the challenge that you will face.
When you placed your life in the hands of God, His intention was to take control and He intends for you to obey Him in all things. He wants you to become sensitive to His voice and learn how He speaks by His Spirit and His Word.
The combination of these things produce in you the fortitude to press through when faced with the divine delays that you're certain to experience.
During those times of delay, God's preparing you to reign in His stead through the vision He gave you. He knows that currently, there are certain qualities that you're missing and they must become a distant memory if you're going to reign with Him, while you allow God to reign through you.
This is why you will always be working on your character. For God to reign through you, the responsibility becomes yours to change so that His purposes and desires become yours and His character and qualities overshadow your current personality that's contrary to the way He desires you to be.
We often receive a vision and immediately run with the details of how it is going to be accomplished. However, there is much groundwork that precedes the fulfillment of the promise you received from God.
The groundwork manifests itself in the form of building the Kingdom of God in the setting you have been placed in.
God still has the building of His Kingdom in mind and often the frustration you have is a result of neglecting to keep His Kingdom first not only in word, but most importantly in deed.
It takes no effort on your part to say that God is number one, that God is good all the time, that He is a great God or how much you love Him.
However the intent of your heart and motives are revealed when we look over our schedules and see what we are actually doing to further the Kingdom of God right where we're at.
Yes, there are divine delays. However, there is also the time when God says, If you take care of My house, I'll take care of yours.
Look at Haggai chapter 1 where the Amplified Bible says:
2 Thus says the Lord of hosts: These people say, The time is not yet come that the Lord's house should be rebuilt [although Cyrus had ordered it done eighteen years before]. [Ezra 1:1“6; 4:1“6, 24; 5:1“3.]
3 Then came the word of the Lord by Haggai the prophet, saying,
4 Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses while this house [of the Lord] lies in ruins?
5 Now therefore thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways and set your mind on what has come to you.
6 You have sown much, but you have reaped little; you eat, but you do not have enough; you drink, but you do not have your fill; you clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; and he who earns wages has earned them to put them in a bag with holes in it.
7 Thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways (your previous and present conduct) and how you have fared.
8 Go up to the hill country and bring lumber and rebuild [My] house, and I will take pleasure in it and I will be glorified, says the Lord [by accepting it as done for My glory and by displaying My glory in it].
9 You looked for much [harvest], and behold, it came to little; and even when you brought that home, I blew it away. Why? says the Lord of hosts. Because of My house, which lies waste while you yourselves run each man to his own house [eager to build and adorn it].
10 Therefore the heavens above you [for your sake] withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its produce.
11 And I have called for a drought upon the land and the hill country, upon the grain, the fresh wine, the oil, upon what the ground brings forth, upon men and cattle, and upon all the [wearisome] toil of [men's] hands.
12 Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people [who had returned from captivity], listened to and obeyed the voice of the Lord their God [not vaguely or partly, but completely, according to] the words of Haggai the prophet, since the Lord their God had sent him, and the people [reverently] feared and [worshipfully] turned to the Lord.
In today's society, there has been so much emphasis placed on making a living and preparing for retirement that as a Christian our very essence for existence has become obscured.
Should we be taking care of our families today and planning to ensure that our golden years are free from financial stress? Yes, without a doubt, but not at the expense of "seeking first God's Kingdom and His righteousness, as His desire is to add these things unto us as our priorities come in alignment with His greater will.
Using this example of the sin of the Jews, after they returned from captivity in Babylon, we see that even when adversity comes those who claim they serve God [although driven from their work by a storm] they must go back to it serving God.
The people of God did not say that they would not build a temple, but "not yet. In the same manner, men do not say they will never serve God or never make room for Him, they say "not yet.
And so the great business of establishing God's Kingdom we were sent into the world to do is not done.
When adversity comes, you can have either the right or wrong attitude about it.
To stop what you are supposed to be doing because of a challenge is a sign of immaturity as you neglect to realize that the trial is allowed by God so your faith and courage can be built.
The Jews neglected building God's house so they could have more time and money for worldly affairs.
The poverty they sought to prevent by not building the temple, God brought upon them for not building it. They lost the overall vision in the midst of building their own lives and families.
There must be balance in your life and you must be certain to put and keep God's Kingdom as a priority. Fulfilling God's vision takes knowing that your personal vision is to be intertwined with His Kingdom. To do this we must know how to conduct our lives and affairs as He determines and not how we think they should operate or how the world says we should do it.
What is not understood is that this is learned behavior. Just because someone knows that God is first, it does not mean they know how to put and keep Him there.
The priority of the Kingdom is God¦ Himself! In doing so, you have a pyramid of God, family and work.
Often we place a greater emphasis on provision and providing than we do on the Kingdom of God.
The matured Christian understands that the provision from their employment or business is given to sustain and further the Kingdom of God.
The purpose for your increase is so that you will have seed to sow and bread to eat. If the seed given to sow is used to eat or sustain your life, the harvest you are supposed to have will remain elusive.
To separate the building of the local church from God is like separating Christ's Head from His Body¦ it cannot be done and still have life flow through the body.
We must be mindful of working and providing for our lives, but we must always consider building God's House and adjust our lives as we are able to so God's greatest blessings can rest on us.
Many good works in the church have been intended but not accomplished, because some people thought it wasn't time.
Because of this, believers miss opportunities of usefulness, and sinners delay the concerns of their soul.
If we labor only for the things that the world offers as the Jews did here, we are living and operating as a carnal Christian. But as we put God and His Kingdom first, what we do for Him shall not be in vain.
Matthew 6:33 still rings true as we are commanded to "Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.
To know what the Bible says, but not understand that it is given to apply to your life is a great deception. You will never attain the heights that God ordained for you by following your own carnal impulses.
As verse 7 implies, God is saying, "Consider what you're building because if I'm not in it, it will continue to blow away! He's trying to set you up for the increase that He has determined.
Some things are just a bit premature and out of alignment with how God plans to work. To have His greatest blessing, we must do things in the manner that He has prescribed.
For many Christians, they will not learn by words of instruction and correction, they will only learn by the struggles for making those decisions which are out of God's timing and God's will.
We offer you the Truth because we want you to increase in your personal life. As you do, so shall the Kingdom go higher because of your efforts.
There is a cry in my heart for proper Kingdom advancement because although we have this great promise of a resurrection life, there are many of our friends, relatives and neighbors who are hell bound.
They must be influenced into the Kingdom and we can no longer do our own thing while waiting for Christ to return.
God has called us to touch this city and state in a great way. I know it and before the dust settles, there will be a marked change because of the things the Lord has placed in us, collectively.
